History
Rashid Ishaq founded SCi in 1996 on the sofa of his studio apartment in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With a month’s supply of Ramen Noodles, a small savings account, and a used car, Rashid worked around the clock to build a marquee client roster that included Fortune 500 companies, state and local government agencies, and local companies. With fanatic discipline and a commitment to earning his clients trust, Rashid grew SCi into a multi-million dollar IT staffing company – before the new millennium.
Since 2000, SCi has grown leaps and bounds. The company has expanded as fast, and with as much maturity, as any regional organization; and is on par with most national companies. In addition to its commercial business, SCi has had the privilege and satisfaction of supporting many U.S. federal government agencies. A sample list would include such prominent names as the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Small Business Administration (SBA).
SCi has grown for two reasons.
- First, the company’s people are fanatics about going above and beyond to satisfy every client’s needs. There is no doubt that client service is the call to action within SCi’s doors.
- And second, SCi has re-invested a percentage of its annual earnings back into the company to create a scalable infrastructure. For instance, the company has been appraised by Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 – a remarkable achievement given the rigorous appraisal methods uses to determine eligibility, let alone grant a positive appraisal. But SCi invested here because the model offered a systematic software development process that the company’s managers could use to guide, enforce, and ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and quality.
In addition to a growing client base and SCi’s CMMI appraisal, the last decade of internal investment has produced a passionate, loyal, and effective operational team that provides human resources and recruiting, financial and contractual administration, and sales and marketing. SCi also offers something really unique – an executive management team of leaders who immerse themselves in their client’s mission. In fact, SCi’s leadership believes that your mission is their mission, that their success is contingent upon your success.
SCi is among a rare breed of companies. Smart, agile, and responsive. Focused, creative, and disciplined. Integrated, scalable, and strategic. Now, SCi is prepared to ascend to new heights, create more history, and do even more remarkable things for its clients.
