For the HHS’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the SCi team consists of:

  • Database managers;
  • Data Warehousing architects;
  • Information architects.

The SCi team supports and provides development of data warehouses and large scale IBM mainframe databases and systems. Specifically, the team performs the following functions:

  • Data administration infrastructure support: SCi manages the metadata repository, develops data standards and naming conventions;
  • Data architecture support: SCi develops logical and physical information models in support of application projects and strategic initiatives;
  • Database administration support: SCi manages over twenty production Oracle, IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL server databases;
  • Database project management: SCi manages the implementation of databases and data warehouses;
  • ETL application development: SCi manages the implementation of ETL systems that populate data warehouses from OLTP sources;
  • Middleware messaging and workflow support: SCi manages the implementation and operation of a large-scale WebSphere middleware environment.

Some of the applications solutions include:

  • MMCS: Medicare managed care system
  • IDRP: Integrated Data Repository
  • NPPES: National plan provider enumerator
  • BODS: Medicare Part-D data warehouse and reporting
  • CBO: Community based organization portal and data warehouse
  • DDPS: Drug data processing system
